WHAT:
The Troy Classic on the Square is rapidly becoming one of the premier cycling events in and around the State of Ohio. It is held annually during the middle of July and is officially sanctioned by USA Cycling. It is operated by a group of dedicated volunteers who serve on the Troy Classic committee.
WHEN:
The third annual Troy Classic will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 beginning at 11:00am.
WHERE:
The Troy Classic is held in beautiful downtown Troy, Ohio encompassing the Public Square and part of the Historical District.
WHY:
The organizers of the Troy Classic are committed to annually hosting an event that will showcase the City of Troy while also delivering an exciting day of competition for spectators and fans alike.
COMPETITORS:
Organizers are expecting in excess of 250 cyclists from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Kentucky that will be competing in all categories of racing from Cat 1 to Cat 5 both men and women. In 2007 there were 3 former U.S. National Champions on hand to contest the race. There are also categories for U23 and the Lance Armstrong Junior Olympic Races for ages 12 thru 16. For the kids, there are free races for ages 12 and under with last years attendance exceeding 60 youngsters.
ATTENDANCE:
Attendance is free and everyone is encouraged to come out and watch this exciting event.
THINGS TO DO:
In conjunction with the Troy Classic, there will be a BMX Stunt Team from DK Bikes that will be performing throughout the day along with a Motorcycle Cruise-in hosted by Hidy Honda Powersports along N. Market St. in downtown Troy. There will also by activities for kids downtown including an inflatable climbing wall and obstacle course free of charge.
